Shopping at 4AM…

01_really_need_clean_shopping_cart_Minerva-Studio
Unless it is online, I hate shopping. I really so. So many people, chaos, crowds, crying kids. Blech.

So, this morning since I couldn’t sleep, I decided to hit up the 24 hour Wal-Mart Super Center.

Ah, it was nice. No one but workers, the only very minor inconvenience was having to dance around where they were shining the floors or heavily restocking isles.

It was wonderful. I took my time, bought things I didn’t need. (Come on, everyone needs a fake skull and full mini skeleton to decorate their desk!) I bought needed things, like cat litter! Candles…unf…I bought candles.

I also bought adulting type things. New burner plates and covers for the stove. Slippers to keep my feets toasty warm. Its been getting a bit chilly here, at least to me.

And on the way home from it all, I stopped and bought myself breakfast. A pumpkin latte and a sausage biscuit with hash brown. Yum, though the hashbrown had been sitting under the heating lamps too long. Crispy.

yesterday was not a good day, hence no post. I was very anger filled and I avoid posting on those times due to ranting. You have to choose your words carefully, because to me, one persons rants can have triggers for other people reading. So, I played it safe.

Still havent gotten my tats pictured yet. I will get my kiddo to do that for me today. They are still in an ugly state due to the peeling process settling in. They are mega awesome though!!

So, ta for now, my sweets!

Fall is here…sort of…

opinions-fall

Well, October 1 has come and gone.

How many of you are already feeling the Halloween spirit? Have you started decorating? Have you chosen costumes for your kids or yourself?

Sadly, decorating and dressing up is kind of pointless where I live. My house in the boonies. In the time I have lived here I have never once had a single trick-or-treater.

So, in light of that, we usually go out to Ruby Tuesdays for a nice dinner. I’ve dressed up before, as a witch, but, I kind of look the part for Halloween all year long with my funky colored hair and weird t-shirts.

I kind of miss living in an area with people. Having kids coming to the door in their precious little costumes and things like that. However, my need for being away from the public at large outweighs that.

Fall hasn’t really come to lower Alabama yet. It is in the 70s at night, very humid, and we are still pushing the upper 80s and lower 90s during the day. We usually don’t get much in the way of an autumn. In my area, we don’t even get the beautiful changing colors of the leaves. Too many pine trees and tree that just suddenly lose their leaves with no color change. They grass turns to a wheat color. It doesn’t grow, so that means there are 7 acres that no one has to get out on the riding lawn mower to take care of.

Sports reign supreme. My man sits on the weekends and watches football all day. Cooking is a bit more fun, as we tend to grill a lot for these game days. Boston Butts are smoked, briskets, and steaks are grilled to perfection. It’s really very nice. Especially since that man can really work a grill. Everything he cooks comes out spectacular!

My daughter’s birthday is today! 28 years old. Man, I reeeallllyyy feel old. I am very proud of her. I love her fiancé to bits as well, and he has a 5 year old daughter who just makes me smile with pride. She is so sweet and cute and colors me pictures that I hang on the fridge and various cork boards in my office. Sadly, there is a custody battle going on for her, and her mother refuses to let us see her. I miss her little face a lot. She has her own room here in my house, and sometime I peek in there. The cats like sitting in her windows, but I think they feel her absence too. They all adore her, and she isn’t too rough with them. She is a bright good, with a wonderful spirit.

So, to move on from the slightly depressing stuff, the fall months mean that NaNoWriMo will be upon us in November. I am looking forward to my duties as Municipal Liaison with the library. We have already scheduled out Write In times and dates, and they also have listed themselves as a Come Write In spot for anyone, at any time. Great bunch of people!

So, this was a simple ‘whats on my mind’ post. I will be posting as often as I can. Ideally, a post a day would be awesome. As well as interviews and promoting other peoples books and blogs. Expect reblogs as well on articles I come across.

So, signing off for now.

Enjoy a picture of some of my cats!! Sid, Siefer and Quin!

Contests Gallore

upliterate-com

So, recently I have been entering all kinds of Halloween/Horror genre story contests.

One in particular I worked for DAYS and NIGHTS on. I am kind of iffy about it. I liked it the first dozen times I read it.

Well, the reckoning time has come. I submitted it.

If you would, please follow the link and give it a read, and a vote?

Who’s the Monster? by Zoe Ambler http://upliterate.com/permalink/story/466/

I’d really appreciate the support. There are some AWESOME stories already submitted by others, so I am not holding my breath too much. One can hope, though, cant she?

Thank you my lovelies.

And for those who dont want to go and check it out, I’ll post the story here on the blog around Halloween!

Hosting my 1st NaNoWriMo Event: The Kick-Off

a1d913ec-8fee-4470-ab03-568f2731fbb6_zpsgwsdwpdd
So yesterday I hosted my first of many NaNoWriMo events. The Kick Off party.
I think it turned out great, with more people showing than I had thought.
One of the greatest things was meeting people face to face that I had only talked to via the NaNo forums and mail.
Everyone was absolutely incredible.
We chatted about writing and NaNo, past events, plotting, genres, and, well, just loads of stuff.
We even have 3 little ones there. Two second graders and one third grader. They are brother and sisters, so they will be working on their NaNo project together, which will be amazing for them.
Thanks to our library system we will have future party events and write-ins, which are bound to be fantastic.
I think I handled myself pretty well, I didnt commit any homocides, and I didnt run anyone over with my truck on the drive home (it was dark, I dont like driving in the dark, then factor in road rage >_> )
So, this NaNo season is kicking off with a great start. We are already prepping for the end of NaNo party, well, the secondary one, for grown ups only. (Bring on the booze!)
With NaNo kicking off on Sunday, I plan on finishing a 1000 (no more, no less) short story I have been working on, and GAMING! In my current favorite game, my characters are in a masquerade party. Its a community event on the forum, and no one knows what character is posting as who, so, basicly, you are dressed up. I have to have my final posts posted to the thread by 11:00PM on Halloween. There will be little forum prizes and stuff, I just joined in for the fun of it. I hadnt participated last year, and came up with some clever costume ideas for my characters, so…yeah.
Once Sunday hits…I will once again be living in my coffee shop, because there are too many things distracting me here at home. At the coffee shop, on my laptop, I am limited, because my poor laptop is running so crappily that opening browsers takes forever…hence, I wont be gaming. I’ll have media player running, my headphones on, and my word document open. And my HAMMERHEADS!!! My sweet sweet hammerheads that only my girls know how to make just the way I like them.
So, my sweets, I will give updates here and there. Hopefully, after NaNo and some chopping and adding, and sending bits and pieces to my editor and beta readers, we’ll have a Book Two to be released before Summer/Fall of next year!! Woooo!
Be sweet, my darlings!

Snail Mail Surprises!

2015-10-20 15.55.13
Snail Mail YAY!
I LOVE getting snail mail. Today I received this card in the mail from my dear friend Patricia. Inside was a note involving mutations, blood cells, zombies and blood suckers. I was enamoured, as you can imaging.
I laughed so much reading it. It is truly of my morbid tastes, while being completely endearing.
This one is going on my ‘wall of favorites’ where I keep stickers and pins and comic panels that I want everyone who comes into my office to see.
So, thank you, Patricia. Truly the highlight of my day, because it was a total drag having to get dressed.
