A New Direction

Hello my sweets!

As you can see by looking around, I have made some changes to the site. I have taken down my book and some other pages, because, really, sales are down and the book can be found anywhere.

Why the change? Its time to branch off in a new direction. My tags will change, my content will change.

Whats to come? More talk of gaming, more talk of writing (no change there) and some more on the things that fascinate me the most in our world…like serial killers and news items.

Oh, there will still be plenty of talks of my daily hilarity that is called my life, and plenty of talk of the kitties and their adventures in driving me mad.

The book and movie reviews will be back, as I love doing those.

Of course, the occasional rant will find its way into the pages from time to time, because I am small and can only contain so much rage.

You will also find that I have an added website. I took my ‘Clattering Keyboard’ blogger site off google and gave it its own fancy smancy domain. It is listed under my real name. It WILL, at time, have different content. You can find it at www.clatteringkeyboard.com if interested.

Please keep in mind, I am not done with either site. The listing for the Bloodletting game is not quite complete, as I have a lot of content and explanations for the game yet to go.

Now, as for the difference in the site, as I’ve said, this site may have content different than the other and vice versa.

Its funny, and kind of weird, to be in the world as both Zoe Ambler and Beth McMarlin.

I have a friend I met online under the name Zoe, and we now meet face to face every few months for a lunch date and she insists on calling me Zoe rather than my real name. I am simply her ‘Zo Zo’. And I love it.

A note on the kitties. All three are terrors and I think they are plotting something because suddenly all three are getting along really well. Definitely plotting.

So, thats the update for now.

Be sweet to one another, my darlings. ~mwah~

Movie Review: Wolf Creek 1,2 & Series

wolf creek 2
Wolf Creek 1 & 2

wolf creek series
Wolf Creek the Series (one season)

I took a day to myself to re-watch some of my favorite movies from Down Under. Australia puts out some really great horror movies, and movies based on actual events.

This review covers the Wolf Creek movies and the single season series. Each starts with the mention that it is based on actual events. And its is pretty accurate. Australia has a large amount of serial killers that have never been caught.

Young people flock to the Outback to take in the brilliant scenery and hitchhike around the country. Hence, so many go missing. Predators hone in one this, making these young ones easy targets. Included in the opening credits of the movies is the line ‘30,000 people go missing in Australia every year, 90% are found, 10% are never found.’ So, foul play runs rampant.

There are proven ‘backpack serial killers’ that have been caught, but how many copy cats go unchecked? And some of those that have been caught are so brutal to their victims. Australia is a vast land, as harsh as it is beautiful.

So, on with the reviews.

Wolf Creek movies 1 and 2, and the short series are some of my favorites. It is the villain I seem to root for, because, in my little head, he is just the best. Mick Taylor is a relentlessly brutal serial killer. He targets tourists. He views them as pigs that just need to be eliminated from ‘his’ country.

Mick has the absolute best maniacal snicker/chuckle I have ever heard. Actor John Jarret captures this character so well, I could never picture the character of Mick Taylor played by anyone else.

The good news is, Wolf Creek 3 is in post production.

Wolf Creek introduces us to Mick. It shows his relentless pursuit of those he deems as trash and a mar on his country. Foreigners are not welcome in his country. So, as a ‘pest eliminator’, he does his job. He takes great joy in this endeavor.

Wolf Creek 2 is much the same, showing just how gruesome this man can be. He is hilarious, however. Creepy, but hilarious. Some of his one liners had me in stitches, but, you have to remember, I am a fan of villains. Also, that snicker/chuckle. It makes me smile.

The short Season of Wolf Creek that was developed was also so perfect. This time, we got to see what drives Mick to do the things he does. We learn of his past, getting a glimpse into why he does what he does, and just how his mind got so warped.

The movies and the series are quite gruesome for the faint of heart. There really isn’t a fear factor as far a jump scares. It is more about sitting on the edge of your seat as the gore happens, because you can nearly feel the pain of Mick victims as he does what he does. He is quite creative and twisted. No one really gets a ‘clean death’.

So if you are up for a really charismatic villain and a lot of gruesome edge of your seat gore, I highly recommend checking these movies and the series out. You wont be disappointed.

No sleep, book news and musings…

4dab90e5ddb782e08e98cf7db35f5e37

Again, I have disappeared for an extended amount of time. I tend to do that. I have tried keeping up with my snail mail pen pals, my last round of letters went unanswered but a few.

I am in one of my sleepless modes again. Musing my little musings.

I have a book a should be writing. The sequel to The Road of Darkness shouldnt be taking so long. I mean, the book is there, nearly done. I read over what I’ve written and end up scrapping it part of the way in. So, I have my beginning and my ending…though missing my middle. I am in a rut…a terrible, terrible rut of how Addison is making her way through her journey. I keep falling into this trapping that changes who she us meant to be. She is meant to be strong, fierce…she is meant to be disliked.

I’ve always held a fondness for unlikable characters that do have some redeeming qualities. I have had a reviewer state that they just couldn’t get into the character because she was SO unlikable in the fact that she did not discriminate in who she killed…especially the women and children. Well…thats what big bad vampires do.

So here in my second book I am finding Addison is softening up…and I do not like it. Yes, change is needed for her character developement, but I don’t want to change the core of her, and that’s what I keep sliding into. It’s horribly frustrating.

I have been writing short stories, and actively Role Play story writing in my time as I struggle with this.

I’ve also pondered trying to get some of these short stories and what-not published. I am looking at small publications, just my short stories here and there. So, if anyone knows some names they’d like to toss my way, I would appreciate it. I could always self publish a short story compilation, but I really am curious as to outside people looking over them and what I have to offer, seeing as I do write for more than one genre.

I have been on a voracious reading spree. I have revisited Eric R Lowthers novel and short story compilation, and find myself wanting more. He seem to be suffering what I am, as his second novel was promised in 2014 and it is yet to be produced. I love that mans writing, genius in the zombie genre.

Serial Killers…a passion of mine, I have read 3 books on the subject in the last 3 days. Oh, and one trivia and fact book.

I have no been very social…I mean, like, at all. I havent been visiting my favorite blogs, Facebook, twitters, etc.. I am sorry for that. I have even been a little withdrawn in my little gaming world. It’s a phase, I’m sure.

In health news, I have a new spinal doctor, and we are working on a pain management, and eventual elimination plan. I am currently pain-free as I write this and it feels remarkable.

The kittehs are well. All six of them. Okay, I will confess, they are terrors. All six of them. Spencer, or who I call ‘Lil man’, is the newest that I had brought home from my best friends place in New Mexico. He has grown like a weed, yet still looks so remarkably kitten-like. He is the king of holy terror as well. It is going on 5am and he is ripping through the house playing and antagonizing the older cats.

I really would like some sleep right about now. I tried about an hour ago and pretty much tossed and turned, got hot, then cold, and finally the cats playing dragged me from my bed once again.

Maybe I just sleep better during the daylight hours. Honestly, though inconvenient, I like my nights. No one to bother me, no phone ringing, the house is quiet-ish. Sleeping through the day can be hassle because of the phone, people, things to be done. Blah.

Well, I suppose I have rambled enough. I will get some stories posted to entertain you shortly. Dont forget about me!!!

I need help.

Working on my NaNo word count this morning, but wanted to get this post up because I am super excited about it. I wrote this piece yesterday before reposting part one of it. I wrote it in about 10 minutes. Yes, when the inspiration strikes, you don’t question it – you just do it. You get those words out and on to the page and watch it all form into something you feel is wonderful.

I hope those of you who have taken a liking to part one of this story enjoy this second part.

Please read and feel free to comment! I included the link to the original post just for those who haven’t read part one.

Enjoy!!

Two of Three

It had been a few years since he killed the puppy. It was fascinating to him. Over the weeks since he had buried it, he had gone back, dug it up with his mother’s good spoon, and examined the remains. Repeatedly. Bugs started eating the animal. Then the fur and skin started falling off. It was really stinky and gross to handle.

Again, that had been a few years ago. He had killed more animals since. Lately, it just wasn’t as fun or as fascinating as it had been.

In that time, he had developed night terrors. He started wetting the bed. His ‘friends’ made fun of him. Really, they weren’t his friends. He hated them all, but their mums made them all play together. He always snuck off to do his own thing anyway.

This week was vacation week. The holidays. Autumn had things crisp and cool. It also had the little lizards and frogs starting to seek shelter from the cold.

Sometimes though, during the day, you could catch them sunning themselves on the smooth rocks to keep their body heat up. It was the prime time to catch them up. He killed some of them, of course. Digging around in their insides. He started saving some, too, however. They had a neat feel to them. Slick and smooth. They looked slimy, but they really weren’t.

This evening there was to be a bonfire and his spirits were flying high. He loved playing with fire. He’d set a few small ones. Nothing major, except for a small old tree house in the woods. It was exciting, but it seemed to be lacking something.

So now all his family were milling around this lovely big bonfire. They were all drinking their grown up drinks, hardly paying attention to anything but one another and their stupid conversations.

His little sister was roasting marshmallows in the fire on a long stick mum had found for her.

He watched intently. He watched curiously.

What would happen if he held her hand in the fire? Would the skin melt off like dripping wax? Or would it get all crunchy like the marshmallows when you leave them in too long and they catch fire a little bit?

He really wanted to know.

But…this was his little sister. He’d get the spanking of a lifetime if he did something bad.

A smiled settled on his cherubic face. Pulling from his flannel jacket pocket, he produced a small jar. It had a few lizards and frogs in it.

He wanted to try different things.

He had to be careful though. He couldn’t let anyone see.

Moving to the other side of the bonfire, where no one was sitting, he pulled a frog from the jar and tossed it in the edge of the fire. It immediately caught fire and shriveled all up, turning black. It then just looked like a weird rock.

He pulled a lizard out next. He tried to put it on a smooth stone at the fires edge, but the fire was too hot. It was weird. The tail and legs of the little lizard caught fire first, and it squiggled and squirmed around before the rest of it was consumed in the flames.

He smiled, the light of the fire glimmering in his eyes.

He inched a little closer to the fire and used a stick to scoot the little jar of remaining frogs and lizards onto the flat stone at the edge he had aimed for with the lizard.

The little reptiles went into a frenzy, then one by one… they popped! It was beautifully disgusting!

He laughed to himself, thoroughly entertained.

It was a short-lived bit of fun though, when his mum came looking for him. It was time to go in. He didn’t want to. He wanted to play with the fire more. He wanted to put more things in. He didn’t want to go to bed, either. However, maybe he wouldn’t have any accidents tonight with all the lovely images in his head of the reptiles and the fire dancing behind his eyes.

Tomorrow he would go back and retrieve the jar and its contents for his inspection. He would see what the pretty fire would do to other things, too, after stealing the big box of long matches off the picnic table.

Nov 2016 Day 26 (Special)

So, not too long ago a had written a bunch of short stories and posted them on the Niume website. This story in particular seemed to be a hit with readers. I thought I would bring it here to the blog and share, let you all see what you think. Tomorrow, we will revisit this young lad…

One of Three
(original post: https://niume.com/pages/post/?postID=141636 )

He dug into the hard ground with a spoon near a tall tree. He made sure this tree was recognizable to him from all the others in the forest behind his home. He had his reasons.
The biggest being was in case he wanted to come back and remember. Remember the feeling. What if he never did it again? He had to preserve the memory somehow.

He lifted the small puppy up and lay it in the shallow hole he had dug with the spoon. His mother would kill him if she knew he had taken her good serving spoon. She thought she had lost it weeks ago, however. No blame was ever cast on him.

He looked down at the sad little puppy. A sound suddenly spooked him from behind. He looked around, paranoia setting in. Hurriedly he scooped the dirt over the puppy. He placed a few sticks and leaves over the small mound, shoving the spoon deep into the now soften dirt as sort of a marker.

Standing, he wiped the dirt and blood off his hands the best he could with the towel he had used to hide the puppy he had killed.

As he walked home, he tossed it into a nearby stream.

Walking into his home, his mum met him at the door. He smiled sweetly.

‘All things truly wicked start from an innocence…’

~~authors note: I titled this ‘One of three’ as killing small animals as a child or juvenile, is one of the three little quirks most all serial killers share. The others are bedwetting, pyromania, infatuation with ‘dark things’, abuse- be it physical or sexual, or abusing those weaker than themselves, stealing, etc…There are three key items on a list that Profilers look for when building their profiles on killers.~~

Aggrivation of day

How I feel in my truck

So today was very aggrivating. If there is one thing that irks me, its making an appointment and either not being seen on that specific time, or being pushed back and pushed back for one reason or another.

I took my truck to have a lift kit put on it, because, you know, all redneck girl and stuff.

My appointment was at 11AM. In another town nearly 45 minutes away.

What time did I finally get home, you ask?

5:45PM.

Is that not a little ridiculous?

I watched, FOR HOURS, as my truck was put on hold so other little piddly repairs and services could be performed on other peoples vehicles. Now, all that says to me is “Oh, we dont care about customer service, we are greedy.”
They would rather rack in all this chump change and inconvience me all for a few extra bucks at the end of the day.

Do you think I’m going to give this place a nasty review?

You betcha.

I will say they did quality work. I am pleased with what they did. But they really dropped the ball in all other areas.
And as always, I was watchful. Once they started on my truck, from start to finish it only took maybe an hour at the most.

This makes me livid.

I was down there, bored out of my head for 6 hours on a job that only really took an hour. Did I mention that, thankfully this place had a clean bathroom, but they had NO vending machines or even a water fountain?

Blah.

Yanno, I get new tires put on on Wednesday. This is more local, right here in Enterprise. Mr. Sir had better not do the same thing or word will spread around this town like wild fire.

In other news, with the lift kit in place, and bigger all terrain tires being out on, there is a very high probability that I will eventually fall out of my truck and break my neck.

vroom vroom.

Being social

tumblr_mgrdryrCh01qa1id2o5_r1_250

So I’ve had an old friend get in touch and want to meet up for dinner.

~blank stares~

Okay, its fine, really. I’ve known this person for like, 20 years. Every year, just once, if at all, we get together, have dinner, and that’s the end of it for another year or so.

It doesn’t make it any less awkward.

I must make sure I never wear white, for I will drop a big greasy brightly colored piece of food on myself. I must watch how much I drink if alcohol is involved.

I must act like a people.

I must adult.

I must shove the true weirdo deep within it cage and feed it quirky puns all evening.

Its one thing to go to the coffee shop and speak with other regulars…our conversations last maybe 15 minutes, tops.

Oh, and I have to be ‘pretty’ tonight. Since I got all my hair cut off, that is going to be a challenge. I am going to dress nice, as opposed to one of my weird meme type t shirts and shorts and shoes with neon colored laces. I am currently debated on a dress or pants with boots. I hate both options, but personing is hard, and tough decisions must be made.

Oh, and this person is a male. A guy. A dude. Known him forever, doesn’t make me any less Super Awkward Girl.
I am still weighing those option on what to wear…if I wear a dress or skirt, there is that constant reminder to ‘sit like  a lady’. Grah.

And while I may look like a smexy bitch with make-up on, I feel like a painted whore. I hate the stuff.

Then there is the whole social etiquette things. ~nearly screams~

Hopefully things go smooth and my next post isn’t a story telling you all what a ginormous arse I’ve made of myself.

See you later, darlings.

Serial killers…my obsession

Now, this post is about something that fascinates me. Serial killers.

There are a larger number of females interested and fascinated by serial killers than males. To the point of writing mail, sending pictures, MARRYING them.

I am not THAT into it. But I LOVE reading every minute detail of their crimes, I love the photos and crime scenes. I love to hear their rantings and ravings, if they do that (unless its Charles Manson because he bores me to tears), or the reasons they give that motivated them to their crimes.

Serial killers can and cannot do a lot of things. Laws are in place so they cant profit from anything. That is totally justified in my view.

I dont think the victims families should make too much profit either.

In the documentary listed below, Serial Killer Culture, that ground is covered. It is the MEDIA and the local officials that boost the victims and families into trying to cash in on tragedies.

But, back on point…why are women so interested in these broken people? Granted, in some ways, some serial killers act in ways of pure genius. Its their egos that bring them down.

Personally, my own facination comes from my darkness within. All those sordid little secrets and fantasies. I dont act on them, but I do have the capacity. We’ve discussed my mental illnesses before. I have the ability to turn things off and on like a light switch. If I cant grasp an emotion, or proper response to something, I will fake it.

Oddly enough, I am more touched by cruelty to animals than I am to things like man against man, child abuse and the like. Animals are sacred to me. People are not.

Does this make me sound like a horrible person? I’m not, really. I am friendly, I can be caring. I just dont know how to react sometimes. But oh my god, do not show me someone hurting an animal. Be it a bird, cat, dog or even a mouse. When Fat Cat caught a mouse, she never killed it…she brought it to me. I’d take the little thing outside and set it free. Sure, an owl probably snatched it up as soon as I went back inside, but thats nature. Mother Nature is the only pure and acceptable, and perfect, serial killer.

The world is overpopulated. The governments are greedy and corrupt. There is hatred and loathing and apathy planet wide. People just plain suck in my opinion.

A person can be great. A small group can be fun. In masses they can be idiots.

I can see why some killers do the things they do. I can see their way of looking at things.

There are so many reasons behind every killer, however. Carl Panzram hated humanity. Charles Manson wanted to be, well, God, in a way. Jeffrey Dahmer wanted someone to love him and NEVER leave…but he also wanted them compliant to the point of death. H.H Holmes was a genius, educated and crafty. He wanted to be rich, and enjoyed the act of killing. He managed to do both for a time.

Spree killers are no fun to me. Rampage killers.

Serials killers are different. They are methodical. They rest. They plan. They repeat. However, they get sloppy.

Some of them, such as Ted Bundy, have a charm about them. Its easy to see, by his looks and charm, why women would be fascinated with him, even knowing what he did to all those young girls.

How anyone could fall in love with the likes of Charles Manson is beyond me. I am chalking it up to drugs. It cant be real, and if it is, W.T.F..

So, how many here can say they are fascinated with serial killers. Not just what you read or see on television, but actually buy the books, see the movies, get your grubby little hands on the FBI’s profile of the subject?

There used to be a wonderful site that I’d spend hours on…thecrimelibrary.com. Its gone now, or changed address. If its moved, I’d love to find it again.

Now, on with the film part of this writing.

Director John Borowski has a love of serial killers, and has made it the focal point of most of his films. Biographical documentaries.

Borowski
Director John Borowski

Mr. Borowski has made, thus far, 4 documentaries covering serial killers and the culture that loves them.

HHHOLMESmovieposter
H.H.Holmes: America’s First Serial Killer (2004)

Torture chambers, acid vats, greased chutes and gassing rooms were just some of the devices of death designed by the Torture Doctor, H.H. Holmes in his castle of horrors. Follows Holmes’ entire life as a criminal mastermind.

This documentary is factual, however, it was done on a low budget. Its hard to get through. It was Borowski’s first major project, however, so everyone starts somewhere.

albert fish movie poster
Albert Fish: In Sin He Found Salvation (2007)

Albert Fish, the horrific true story of elderly cannibal, sadomasochist, and serial killer, who lured children to their deaths in Depression-era New York City. Distorting biblical tales, Albert Fish takes the themes of pain, torture, atonement and suffering literally as he preys on victims to torture and sacrifice. Includes interviews with artist and Odditorium owner, Joe Coleman, and true-crime author, Katherine Ramsland, Ph.D.

This documentary was top notch. Albert Fish was so brutal, an unabashed cannibal and sadist. Borowski brought this biography to the screen brilliantly. Facts, re-entactments, photos. It was wonderful.

carl panzram movie poster
Carl Panzram: The Spirit of Hatred and Vengeance (2012)
The true story of lifelong criminal and serial killer, Carl Panzram who wrote his autobiography for a jail guard in 1928.

Borowski out-does himself once again. They biography is brilliant. The late Mr. Panzram had a hand in that, as in he was one of the first early serial killers who actually wrote his own biography. Some of what he wrote and told is up to speculation on whether or not he was exaggerating. Regardless, this man hated all of humanity.

posterskculture
Serial Killer Culture (2014)

Serial Killer Culture examines the reasons why artists and collectors are fascinated by serial killers.

This was a great documentary, giving a little light on why people seem so interested in serial killers. The love of them, the fear of them. I believe 13 different artist, collectors and even a tour group cover Millwaki (Jeffrey Dahmer Tours) were featured. It was great to see the artwork serial killers created. It was great to see the artwork ARTISTs created from being interested in the killings and the killers. And the Tour Group…they didnt just give you all the gruesome stories of Jeffrey Dahmer…they give you history on the city itself. The buildings, the life. The whole documentary was very informative and entertaining.

Well, now that you’re all going to keep 10 paces from me and call me creep girl, I’ll let you go look these up on Netflix to give them a watch (Albert Fish is no longer available on the US Netflix)

😀

In the clutches of Netflix…

Yes, I am STILL within the clutches of the Netflix Vortex of Doom. I really dont mind, however, as it keeps my mind occupied a bit.

I have watched some really great, and some really bad stuff. And some funny. Though, I dont think the funny stuff was supposed to be funny…I think its that sense of dark humor in me, or maybe my inner serial killer. >_>

Tonight I will go over three movies I’ve watched. The good, the bad and the ugly, in their own respects.

So, on with the show, shall we?

b70803xwyac
Twixt
A writer with a declining career arrives in a small town as part of his book tour and gets caught up in a murder mystery involving a young girl. That night in a dream, he is approached by a mysterious young ghost named V. He’s unsure of her connection to the murder in the town, but is grateful for the story being handed to him. Ultimately he is led to the truth of the story, surprised to find that the ending has more to do with his own life than he could ever have anticipated.
Alrighty well, it was a bad movie, yet really good. Confusing, yes, I know.
The storyline was lame. Val Kilmer, while a wonderful actor, is looking very much his age in this lead role. I swear, if they put anymore spackle and make-up on him, I might try to hang some pictures.
Anyway. I wasnt expecting so much humor in this movie. Unintentional maybe? But, if you are a writer, you will find this movie a hoot, as it seems to target writers, their plights…and those stupid things some people say and ask them. It also pokes a little fun at the stereotypical ‘writers process’.
I had no idea Edgar Allan Poe was going to be tossed into the story as well. Loved that.
The cinematography was both cheezy and pretty. Low budget for sure. But, perhaps it was meant to have that look.
I found the movie to be pretty good, since I found so much humor in it. I recommend it.
152648
Banshee Chapter
Journalist Anne Roland explores the disturbing links behind her friend’s sudden disappearance, an ominous government research chemical, and a disturbing radio broadcast of unknown origin.
Alright, this movie sucked a little, but again, I found immense humor in it. The storyline was lame. The FX were lame. What got me though, was Ted Levines performance (come on, you know, the ‘its puts the lotion on its skin…’ guy from Silence of the Lambs, and other great performances). In this film, he is pretty much Hunter S Thompson without being called Hunter S Thompson. Even the artwork on the walls of his ranch resemble the artwork of Hunters great artist friends.
But again. The movie…bleh. I only watched it because I was so amused by the Hunter S Thompson salute. If you want some humor, and dont care if the story sucks a little, well, give this a watch.
Area_51_Film_Poster
Area 51
Three young conspiracy theorists attempt to uncover the mysteries of Area 51, the government’s secret location rumored to have hosted encounters with alien beings. What they find at this hidden facility exposes unimaginable secrets.
This movie sucked. No way to say it but that. I watched it because I love those ‘found footage’ sort of movies. I do, its a guilty pleasure, even when they suck. I was totally disappointed when I saw who directed and produced it, since I really liked the Paranormal Activity movies and the Purge. See, thats how they get you to watch this drivel of a film…you get sucked right in by those other movies, directors, producers, etc.. Dont waste you time on this movie…there is nothing redeeming in it at all.
—————–
So there you go, my darlings. Tomorrow night we will have both a film thingy and a bit of a rambling thing…the rambling thing may even turn into a discussion. Its a deep subject matter. Or weird…depending on how you look at it.
See you tomorrow, darlings.

30 Day Challenge: Day 27

30 day challenge
Day 27: A picture of your handwriting
First of all, let me say, that yes, I am left-handed.
No, I dont write in that weird wrist breaking upside down way most lefties do.
However, I do find myself changing page positioning to suit ‘how’ I want to write. My hand writing can be very refined and elegant.
More often than not, however, it resembles that of a seriel killers handwriting.
