Windows 10 Test drive Update

So, I really starting liking Windows 10. So much, that I put it on my rig (my big main computer).
People who ask me what Windows 10 is like, well…I tell them its like awkward sex. It has all the familiarness, but is also kind of strange, and sometimes you dont know where to put what.
There are some quirks, however, and I’ve seen some of them addressed on different forums and articles.
Tonight, I discovered I can not sit and watch a DVD or Blu Ray movie on my rig.
The problem lies in the Nvidia GeForce 9400 GT driver and Windows 10. Others have complained. Yes, its a low end video card. But its been working fine and dandy…up until I try to watch a DVD or Blu Ray.
So far there are no new updates, patches or fixes for the driver crashing. Its frustrating.
I am learning the ins and outs of 10, however, and so far I am pleased with it. It does some neat things. And there are plenty of hacks and tweaks you can do to streamline things to make it a little more comfortable, giving it that old friendly Windows 7 feel, but with a splashy new appearance.
Thus far, I like it.
I know it will take time for patches and fixes for things.
As for my DVDs and Blu Rays, well, I do have a perfectly good 55″ TV and stuff… I just dont like sitting in the living room. Its not…my room. My office is my room…lol. I guess I can always watch the last twenty minutes of the DVD I was watching over on the laptop.

30 Day Challenge: Day 3

30 day challenge
Day 3: Your day, in great detail
Well, I woke up at 5am, after about 2 hours of sleep. I had two cups of coffee, played with Fat Cat, checked some online things and then hopped in the shower.
I then had more coffee and chatted with the daughter as she got ready for work.
At 7:45am I left the house and went to my doctor’s appointment.
From there I went to Walgreens to drop off my prescription, and then I went to Office Depot, pretty much for shits and giggles.
I then went to the coffee shop and bought four of my favorite iced coffees and came home.
I cleaned up the house, loaded the dishwasher and had a bowl of noodles. I wrote some on my various role plays and got them posted.
I then commenced with installing Windows 10 on my big Rig of a computer. That was time consuming. It took an hour to install, only to fail and roll back to Windows 7. I looked up the error code that it had given me at the roll back and tried a few things which were suggested, such as unplugging my printer, webcam and USB hub from the computer, restarting and trying the install of Windows 10 again. After another hour…success! I then spend a few hours between the laptop and Rig customizing the look of my new OS, and syncing items. I am a stickler for my laptop and Rig backgrounds, icons, etc. looking the same and being in the same places. I’m weird, I know. I then hooked my webcam and whatnot back up and gave them a test run to make sure they were working and everything was A-Okay!
I then celebrated with a mini Lean Cuisine pizza and some apple juice.
The daughter came home late from work and we sat and chatted about this and that until she went to bed. I then took her car and went to Wal-Mart with a friend at 11pm…for shits and giggles. I bought some document frames, tea lights and smelly good melty waxy things.
I came home and put things away and spent some time with Fat Cat, giving her some wet food and fresh water. She’s been so lethargic lately, I am starting to worry.
I then opened up my games and did my gaming things, deciding somewhere along the way that chicken salad sandwiches sounded really good, so with the gaming out of the way, I made a batch of chicken salad with nice fine pieces of red onion, Cajun seasoning, paprika and red pepper. I set it in the fridge to let the flavors blend.
And now, here I am, writing this. It is 2:17am.

Test driving Windows10…hhmm…

So, I’ve decided to give the new Windows 10 a test drive on my laptop before I put it on my precious rig.

So far, I’m really unsure. I’ve spent the night/morning (its 3am right now) cruising around the features of Windows 10.

There are pro’s and con’s.

I am really thinking of rolling it back to my beloved Windows 7 though. It allows you a 30 day grace period to roll back without affecting anything. Very considerate of them.

I dont like the look of the window boxes at all. The tiles on the start menu are neat, but I’ve found I’ve unpinned most of them, so why bother?

I’ve been using Windows 7 since it was released on both my laptop and my rig. I think I’m die hard for it, but, I will keep playing with 10 on the lappy to see if I warm up to it. I’ll give it maybe two weeks?

I’ve been reading every available article I can find on Windows 10, seeing what other people have to say about it, as well as tips, tricks and tweaks people have discovered.

I know Windows 7 inside out.

But…I’ll suck it up and give 10 a shot at least as a test drive.

Anyone else toying with it?

Any thoughts?

I’d love to hear what you all think, if your giving it a try, or if not, what your reasons are for sticking with your current OS.
